At Eurocasino.net you play Blackjack for free, a great way to learn the game.
You are playing against the dealer. The goal of blackjack is to beat the dealer's hand without going over 21. For each round you can open up as many as five individual games. Each game is considered
as a separate game against the dealer.
The game starts with you making a bet on any (or all) of the player boxes on the Blackjack table. The minimum bet is € 1. The maximum bet per box is € 40, which means that if you play on all five boxes, you can make a maximum initial bet of € 200 euros.
After you have placed your bet, press Deal. The dealer will give you two cards, both face up. The dealer will take two cards as well, but only the first one will be face up.
You now play against the dealer in trying to get as close as possible to the number 21. However, if you go over 21 you are bust and will lose regardless of the dealer's hand.
If you want more cards, you press Hit until you are satisfied. Cards numbered 2 – 9 are worth their value. Jack, queen and king, so called face cards are worth 10. Aces are worth 1 or 11, whichever makes a better hand.
If a hand has an ace, which can be valued either 1 or 11,
it is called a soft hand.
If the dealer is dealt an ace, you can take out an insurance. For half of your initial bet, you insure yourself against the dealer having Blackjack. If you take it, the dealer will check his card. If it is not Blackjack, he takes the insurance. If it is Blackjack, you will win 2 times
If you are dealt an ace and a face card as your opening cards, you have Blackjack and automatically win 1.5 times your bet (3 to 2). If the dealer has Blackjack as opening cards, you automatically lose. If you both have Blackjack, it's a push and you keep your original bet.
After seeing your initial two cards, you can double your bet. If you do so, you will only be hit one more time.
If you are dealt two cards which are the same, you can do a split of the cards. You will then double your bet and play the two cards as separate hands.
When you don't want any more cards, you click Stand.
The dealer will move on to the next box. When all boxes are played, the dealer will hit himself until his cards are 17 or higher. The dealer must stand at 17, meaning if his cards are 17 or higher, he cannot hit himself with another card. Whoever is closest to 21 wins. If you and the dealer have the same value of cards, it's a Push, no one wins and you keep your bet.

The origins of Blackjack are found in the French game 'vingt-et-un' (21), played in French casinos already in the 17th century. The game followed European immigrants to North America in the late 19th century.
At first the game wasn't very popular, as most Americans preferred craps and roulette. To attract players to the game, the casinos tried different bonus schemes. One such bonus paid 10 to 1 and was paid out when the player made a 21 with the ace of spades and a black jack.
This created the name Blackjack.
The bonus schemes worked, and Blackjack started to grow in popularity. As the game became more and more popular, mathematical strategies for the game started to appear. Through card counting it was possible to improve the odds against the dealer. Books were written about different card counting strategies. Although most were too complicated for the common man to use, the books helped increasing the popularity of the game even further. Skilled players however did make use of strategies of and often managed to make lots of money before being discovered and banned from casinos.
With online blackjack, card counting is not possible. The deck is shuffled between each bet.
This hasn't stopped the game from becoming one of the most popular games online.
